Cricket festivals

We entered 2 teams into the Partnership cricket festivals this year. This is a competitive event where they play matches against other local lower schools. Both teams performed fantastically, showing excellent cricket skills and all of the school values. One team managed to win all of their matches and progressed through to the partnership finals a week later. Again they had a great day, had a few wins, but didn't manage to progress to the next stage. We are very proud of all of our children who took part, they were a credit to Wootton Lower School.  

Quadkids athletics

Our Year 3 & 4 children attended an athletics event last week. They got to try lots of different track and field events. They were coached by middle school sports leaders at Holywell School. They all cheered each other on during each event and showed real teamwork and positivity. Well done to all of the children involved. 

CLT Sports day

Our super Year 4 children attended Chiltern Learning Trust's first primary school sports day last week. All of the children did a track and field event, competing at Bedford Athletics Track. They all performed brilliantly and we had many winners throughout the day. The children demonstrated excellent positivity and resilience through the day. Well done to all of the children who attended. 

Year 1 Cricket Festival

 Some of our Year One children went to Marston Vale Middle School to take part in a cricket festival this week. They all joined in with lots of cricket activities, working on their batting and fielding skills. The children represented the school with great enthusiasm and made us all proud. Well done to all those children who came. 

 

 

Year 3 and 4 Paralympic festival

In January a group of Year 3 & 4 children attended a paralympic sports festival. They were able to participate in a variety of sports such as kurling, boccia, volleyball and archery. They all had a super day trying out new activities. 

Year 4 Sports Hall Athletics competition

 The final competition of the year was the Year 3 & 4 Sports Hall Athletics competition held at Alameda Middle School. We took 6 boys and 6 girls to compete in a range of indoor track and field events. Each of the children had to take part in 3 running events and 2 field events and compete against 11 other schools. They all performed brilliantly and showed excellent determination. We had lots of winners in each of the events. Overall we came second out of 12 schools, what an amazing achievement. Well done to all of the fantastic children involved. 

Year 3 and 4 Basketball Festival

Last week we took a group of Year 3 and 4 children to Marston Vale Middle School for a basketball festival. The children had an opportunity to be coached by sports leaders and learn a variety of basketball skills. They all worked extremely hard and had lots of fun. 

Year 4 Dance festival

 'A group of Year 4 dancers have been rehearsing daily over the past few weeks in preparation for a dance festival. This week they travelled to Redborne Upper School and performed their dance in front of 8 other schools. They were absolutely fantastic, not only their dancing but their support and encouragement whilst watching the other schools dance. They were all wonderful ambassadors to the school. 

Year 2 Multi-skills 

A fantastic group of year 2 children travelled to Wootton Upper School this week to take part in a multi-skills event with other local schools. The children took part in lots of different activities, demonstrating a range of skills. We were very proud of the way the children showed our school values of teamwork, perseverance and respect. Well done to all those who took part. 

 

 

Sports Ambassador event

Our wonderful group of sports ambassador's travelled to Holywell school last week to learn to become sports ambassador's. They learnt a range of skills that are required to be good leaders and they were able to take part in different events developing their communication, co-operation, teamwork and leadership skills. The children all enjoyed their day.

Girls Football festival

As the Euro Women's football tournament has started there was a girls football festival to encourage more girls to play football. The girls had a fantastic day at Redborne Upper School, where they were led by young female football sport leaders. They had a chance to improve different football skills such as their passing, defending and shooting. They also had to show team work, co-operation and communication with their team mates.

They were all brilliant ambassador's to the school. 

SSG Activity day

 A group of children represented Wootton Lower School at a SSG activity day last week. They had an opportunity to take part in team building games, they had a chance to develop their leadership skills and work with lots of new children. A fun day was had by all. 

Quadkids athletics festival

Well done to all of the children who took part in the Quadkids athletics festival. They demonstrated running, jumping and throwing skills and experienced lots of new activities. Both teams performed brilliantly, one team finished in 2nd place- what a fantastic achievement. 

TENNIS FESTIVAL- A group of Year 3 and 4 children attended a Tennis festival last week. They learnt lots of new tennis skills and showed excellent determination and perseverance. Well done to all of the children who attended. 

PE News

The Year 3 and 4 children represented the school at the Redborne Partnership Kwik cricket finals today and were fantastic ambassadors for the school. They all showed excellent sportsmanship and teamwork throughout the tournament.
