We have had a very busy and exciting week in reception. On Wednesday we were very lucky as we watched a Beauty and the Beast pantomime. The children looked fantastic in their dressing up clothes and were full of excitement and joy all day.
We have been looking at the story 'The Little Red Hen' this week in literacy. The children have been great at retelling the story and are beginning to use their sounds we have been learning in phonics to write the initial sounds for the characters. In Maths, we have been looking at one less than a given number between 1-5. The children have been using a 5 frame to work out the answers.
Next week we will continue to look at 'The Little Red Hen' and begin to write words and phrases from the story. In Maths, we will be looking at positional language.
We have had a great first week back in Reception! This week, we have been learning lots about Diwali and the story of Rama and Sita.
In our math's learning this week we have been busy making repeating patterns with lots of different objects. And in art we have been watching firework videos and then recreating our own firework pictures with chalks, paints and pastels.
In Jellyfish and Seahorse garden we unfortunately found a dead bird but was then able to spend the rest of the day learning about birds which the children loved and it was a great learning opportunity. The children were fascinated! To end our week we went to our first Celebration assembly!
Next week we are learning the story of the Little Red Hen and in math's we will be focusing on one less. Wishing you all a lovely weekend.
