As we start a new week I just wanted to say thank you on behalf of your children. Many of you have structured a new routine and are accessing the on-line materials we are posting for you. Some of you have struggled to do this around trying to work at home and some you have just about managed to keep your children amused. These are tough times and you are all doing a great job even if you feel it isn’t going well. Anything you are doing to keep things ‘normal’ is helping.
Please don’t get stressed if the worksheets don’t get done or your 'home school' has an off day. We are in this together. Please don't worry about children regressing in their learning - we have a fantastically talented team who will pick up the education of your children when they come back to school. In the meantime the teachers are available on email or the phone for a chat. What is more important at this time is that you stay as positive as you can and enjoy the time you now have together as a family. Share a book, eat meals together, venture out for a walk and simply have a chat. Keeping a routine will definitely help and I would recommend the Joe Wicks daily on-line workout, which by simply watching, will raise funds for the NHS. The worksheets will also help to keep the children’s minds active and give them a focus but they cannot replace what we do in school. These are unprecedented times and working together we will do what we all can to ensure we come out of this as best we can. We have had an incredibly busy week sorting Wootton Lower School in the new world and soon I will sort out some on-line assemblies and other things to keep you all smiling. Mrs Hall has already been busy on the latter! Take care of yourselves and hold your close ones closer. Mr T

We had phonics today and we are really missing all the children, especially Sealions, Starfish, Seahorses & Jellyfish! To cheer us up we spent some time in the sunshine! ☀️ Although it didn’t end well...🤕
Keep positive & safe everyone! Reception children made these bouncy frogs today which shows their learning about a frogs life cycle. Perhaps you’d like to give it a go at home. 🐸
Dear Boys and Girls,
I hope you have all had a good first week in our strange new world. The children who have come to school at Harris Way have had lots of fun and have enjoyed starting the day with the Joe Wicks workout. Did you join in? They have also been solving the maths problems the teachers have set on the website for you. Year 2 have also completed some super writing with Mrs Greenwell. We all miss you very much and I hope your class teacher has either called you this week or will speak to you next week to make sure you are all being as brilliant as you can be. I know you are at home a lot at the moment. Remember to laugh a lot and help out around the house. Lets show the value of LOVE this weekend boys and girls. A little quiz for you - I have taken some photos around the school and I want you to guess where we are. I will share one with every post I write. We will start with an easy one (but they will get harder) ... Mr T This week, some of the children have done Spring water colour paintings and written letters to the residents of the local retirement village. Hopefully these will bring some spring sunshine during this difficult time.
During the school closure, the Year 3 and 4 children have been exploring nine pin triangles. Investigating how many they can make and looking at lines of symmetry. Want to try at home? Have a look here: https://nrich.maths.org/2852
You can find the worksheet needed here: Click Here Wow, what a manic Monday in the office! But we got through it thanks to the amazing Mrs Smith & Mrs Crowley! We also managed to sneak a cuppa & biscuit in the staffroom.
Let’s see what tomorrow brings. Dear boys and girls,
I will be writing a blog for you all to let you know of any news and how things are going at School. It has been a very strange week for all of us and we need to show our values over the next few weeks as we settle into a new routine. Stay positive and please show how much you love the people you are with by helping around the house. We may not be sitting beside you to help you overcome challenges or give you a high 5 when you do something incredible and tell you just how amazing you are - but we are still your teachers. On this website we will set you daily challenges and very soon, we hope to welcome you back into School. We are still here and we are all so proud of you. Mr T Hi Children,
We are really sad we can’t go on anymore weekend adventures at the moment. We love coming home with you all and joining in with all the fun activities you do. We will miss it lots! But don’t worry about us, we’re safe in school and coming up with a master plan for next week! We are going to have so much fun in school. Keep an eye out & we will show you what we get up to. Love From Take Home Teds’ PS. Make sure you do your best listening to your new teachers & impress them with your learning! |
