Dear Parents and Carers,
Many thanks for your continued efforts in supporting our children at home with their learning at this difficult time. We do appreciate this can be difficult, and at times, very stressful. We all think you are doing an amazing job. The vast majority of feedback we have received is that the quality of the home learning support we are providing is very good. However, we do recognise there are always things that can be improved or tweaked and to this end, we would encourage you to complete the short questionnaire to provide some structured feedback to us. Thank you for your time in completing this survey.

Welcome to week 1 of Mrs Maguire's Magical Story Time. Each week I will be sharing a new text for a family story time session. The texts will be suitable for all children in school to listen to and there will also be opportunity for family discussion of some key questions too. The text for this week is 'The Lion Inside' by Rachel Bright. I hope you enjoy! The Daily Mile UK have created a New Year Challenge. This requires 15 minutes of walking, jogging or running each time. Children are challenged to see how many boxes they can tick off on the bingo sheet (attached). Can the children challenge themselves to do the Four corners, Four in a row (or even a Full house if you do it over a longer period of time) ![]()
The Oak National Academy is the online school portal set up in March to provide learning opportunities for children during the period of school closure. This is a resource that is free to use and still has lots of ideas being updated now. A recent initiative is a collaboration with the Literacy Trust to provide a 'school online library'. The site will publish an 'author of the week' and children will be able to access a story, some information on the author and some follow up activities to complete if they so wish. I would stress that this is a resource for both Primary and Secondary students so please ensure you check the story is suitable for your child's age range before they access it. However, this weeks story is a Tracey Beaker novel by Jaqueline Wilson which I am sure will interest some of our KS2 children.
The link for the website is https://library.thenational.academy and I would encourage you to check in each week and see if it is an author your child would be interested in. Happy Reading! We are delighted to have signed up to Bug Club to provide access to hundreds of online titles at home.
Please read the attached letter from Mrs Grove explaining how to login. Well done for completing another week of online learning. Remote learning is new to all of us so we wanted to share some short videos to share the expectations from each year group. ReceptionYear 1Year 2

We have had a lovely week in school with lots of lovely Christmas activities. We really enjoyed the whole school Nativity assembly via zoom, our Christmas parties and of course our Christmas dinner. We have also been busy writing some very important letters for Santa which postman Dave collected for us.
The staff in Reception would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas!! See you in 2021. |
